This photo is well lit, giving a good contrast between the subject and background resulting in the focal point of the image almost popping out of the frame which I feel is a very nice effect.
The range of color's and textures have been well exposed giving the captured image a certain feel and emotion that is somewhat hard to describe; the photo itself feels welcoming while the expression on the subject is almost the opposite - again a nice contrast of emotion even if it is a subtle one.
There is again mixed connotations with the pose, the subjects left hand is appearing to stroke the branch that the right hand is grasping hard on to. I cant tell if this was intentional or otherwise but one could read the conflict between the two to be similar to the aforementioned contrasts in lighting and color.
What I love most about this photo is the level of detail: the shade of lipstick being similar to that on the fingernails balanced against the color of the roses on the t-shirt, the level of detail on the hair and its color depth as it reflects the light.
All in all I could write an essay on the different messages this photo is displaying through intentional/unintentional symbolism; my only real negative criticism is the watch doesn't fit in and takes attention away from the true focus, it needs to be a darker strap color or removed.
All in all this is a fantastic piece, and most certainly the only one that jumped out at me today.
