volpe e il gatto by *zenibyfajnie is a fantastic example of a deviantID, showing both the photography skills of the artist and also their natural environment. The contrast between the red tones and the muted tones provide a chic and elegant look to the model. There is also a cute kitty.

I feel I got my money's worth in Art Appreciation class when I see pieces like this. The first glance is beautiful but study is very rewarding.

The first part of the composition that I enjoy noting is the use of highly contracting colors. I am a huge fan of black and white together, and I love seeing the high contract in both the model's clothing and in the cat she's holding. I love how black and white are not the only complimentary colors in the picture, as the bold red hat is highlighted by its compliment in the foliage behind the model's head. This makes the reds and greens brighter, which is good planning and leads to beautiful results. These bold contrasts are well balanced by the natural beiges and browns in the furniture and setting, softening the overall image so that attention is drawn to the bold subject.

The other series of contrasts comes in the shapes used. The most obvious are the hard horizontal lines on the model's shirt, softened by he natural flow of the fabric and her figure. The plant behind her has bold, spiky foliage which contrasts with the soft, roundish shape of her beret. The makeup the model wears is gorgeous, and the shapes of her lips, eyebrows, and eyes are all perfect for the Film Noir group this is submitted to. I love the curves to the light curl in her hair and the even ends they come to, and the the certain... fuzziness the cat brings. That's an adorable cat. The final bit of composition in shapes for me if the patio furniture--regimented curves in the wicker chair and table, even lines in the armrest to the left.

Artist, you made your model look like a movie star. Congratulations on such a beautiful piece of work.
